Local veterinarian says ice and ice water won't cause bloat in dogs

An article claiming ice water and ice cubes are bad for dogs when it's hot outside has been making its rounds social media.
The article details a story of a pet owner who gave a dog ice cubes which then caused the dog's stomach to spasm and bloat.
Dr. Tom Reeping at the Crago Veterinary Clinic in Boardman says there is no evidence to suggest feeding a dog ice or ice water can cause bloat. He actually recommends giving dogs ice water or ice cubes on hot days.
"Bloat happens when the stomach becomes so distended that it flips over itself. So generally speaking, your dog can ingest massive amounts of anything and cause that problem. But ice, particularly and especially in hot weather like this, it is good to keep a couple of ice cubes in your dog's water," Reeping said.
