GROVE CITY, Pa. - Grove City College has moved up 44 places on Forbes magazine’s 2014 list of America’s Top Colleges. The College is ranked higher nationally, regionally, and among its private college peers than it was last year.

Forbes ranked the College 148 out of 650 colleges and universities included in the latest survey. Grove City was ranked at 192 last year.

The numbers are also improved for the College in Forbes’ sub-categories. Grove City was ranked 67 (up from 85) among Northeast Colleges, which includes all of the Ivy League and eight of the Forbes’ top 10. Among private schools, Grove City was ranked 116, up from 137.

Forbes is one of several publications that usher in the new academic year by releasing rankings of colleges and universities.

Money magazine ranks Grove City College in the top 10 percent of “Best Colleges for Your Money” nationally and number six among Pennsylvania schools.

Money looks at the quality of education offered, the cost to attend and how much the average graduate makes five years after earning a degree. It includes a “value added” grade based on the economic and academic profile of the student body and the mix of majors offered.

Grove City College ranks number 58 on the list of 655 schools listed in Money. The magazine considered more than 1,500 colleges and universities but its rankings only include schools with a higher-than-average graduation rate and bond ratings that indicated financial stability.

A year’s tuition at Grove City College is $15,550, about half the cost of comparable private colleges, according to the University.
