Canfield Fair visitors asked to "Lock Their Love"

CANFIELD, Ohio - A community project at this year's Canfield Fair is asking you to show a little love.
They are called love locks and they are huge in Europe. Couples write their names on pad locks and lock them onto bridges.
"The goal was to then throw the key into the water, so whatever wish or love that was made on that lock could never be broken. So, being at the Canifled Fair, we felt we should have a rooster. We don't need a bridge. We need a rooster, so we have big lock here," said Lisa Toy, from the Canfield Fair.
It's not legal to put locks on bridges in the United States, so this may be the next best thing. A 13 foot tall rooster, named "Big Lock" will stand in front of the Fine Arts building.
Suzanne Bort-Gray, from the Canfield Fair said, "Those of us who love the Canfield Fair feel that we want some connection to the fair, and that is the idea of locking your love here."
"Big Lock" was made by Shawn Lawless, who said he can reinforce the rooster, if it gets weighed down by too many locks.
Fair officials are hoping people come to the fair this year and bring their own lock. "You can paint it, put your initials on it, your message. You bring one from home, come over to the "Big Lock" and clip it on," said Gray.
"Big Lock" will be here to stay as the latest community project at the Canfield Fair.
