MEDINA, Ohio (AP) - Officials in northeast Ohio say a woman fleeing sheriff's deputies after they found her with an open container of liquor died after she lost control of her car and crashed into a house.
The Medina County Sheriff's Office says deputies checking on a stationary vehicle in Medina around 11:30 Monday night found the driver, 38-year-old Teresa Morris, talking on the phone with an open container of liquor between her legs. The statement says Morris fled in her vehicle as deputies tried to determine if she was impaired.
As deputies pursued Morris, she lost control of her vehicle, went off the road and crashed into a house.
Officials say Morris, of Tallmadge, died on the scene. No one inside the home was injured.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
