TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A family in Ohio has filed a lawsuit against a suspended funeral home operator after the discovery of 11 bodies intended for cremation.

The lawsuit filed Monday in Toledo says Tate Funeral Services and its director mistreated the body of a 55-year-old man who died in May.

The family says investigators believed the body was not embalmed or properly refrigerated as required by state law.

Ohio's funeral directors board suspended the funeral home's license last week.

A message seeking comment was left with the funeral home owner's attorney on Monday.

The funeral home has maintained that it provided embalming in accordance with state law. Its attorney has said that any delays in cremation were because doctors didn't hand over death certificates in a timely manner.
