A Pennsylvania security guard allegedly lied to police after he shot himself while on the job at a hospital.

According to Pennsylvania State Police shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday police were called to Grove City Medical Center in Pine Township for reports of a fight.

Police say a security guard reported that he had been shot during an altercation with four males.

The guard allegedly told police that after he was shot the males ran from the area.

He then reportedly walked back toward the emergency room of the hospital where he received medical treatment.

The guard was then flown by helicopter to another hospital.

Officials say during the course of their investigation they discovered the guard actually shot himself.

Police are still investigating the incident.

The condition and identity of the security guard have not been released at this time.
