WARREN, Ohio - A teen who was the subject of a two county search effort on Wednesday could face charges.

Authorities in Trumbull and Ashtabula Counties were joined by an Ohio Highway Patrol helicopter searching for fifteen-year-old Adam Burgard, who disappeared Wedesday morning during an eight mile run with fellow members of the Maplewood cross country team.

The teen was located that evening in a field near Orwell, about three miles north of where he had last been seen.

Trumbull County Sheriff Thomas Altiere says Burgard was spotted by deer hunters who had placed field cameras in the ares.

Altiere says when they found Burgard, he claimed that he had been abducted.

Authorities broadcast an alert just before 7:30 p.m. saying that the boy had been kidnapped by a white male with an Italian accent who had tied him to a tree.

"At first he claimed he was abducted, and then he came out and told us the truth,” said Altiere.

The sheriff says that the teen has no medical issues, but describes him as “troubled”, saying that he ran away five years ago.

Altiere says that Burgard could face charges of inducing panic on the juvenile level.

Altiere estimates 9 to 10 state highway patrolman, both the Trumbull and Ashtabula county sheriff departments. and a state highway patrol helicopter took part in the search. He says it's too soon to say how much this cost.
