CAMPBELL, Ohio - It took six police officers with handcuffs, shackles and a mask to arrest a Youngstown woman suspected of drunk driving through the city of Campbell.

Police say they pulled over a car driven by 35-year-old Kelly Jane Clark, after it was spotted striking a building and driving erratically along Jacobs and McCartney Roads Monday night.

The arresting officer says he spotted a young boy in the back seat and two open beer cans on the floor of Clark's car, as well as the odor of alcohol on the driver's breath.

After Clark claimed that she only had one beer, police say she began shouting profanities.

After ignoring the officer's warnings to stop, Clark was handcuffed and led to a cruiser where she told the officer to remove his hands from her in front of her son.

Police say Clark was able to slip one hand out of the cuffs before she agreed to undergo a field sobriety test, after which she was told she would be charged with driving while intoxicated.

More officers had arrived on the scene when they were attempting to place Clark back into a police cruiser.

That's when police say Clark kicked one of the officers in the shin and struck another officer in the genitals.

After Clark was in the police car she kicked out the rear passenger side window.

Police then placed Clark in leg restraints connected to the handcuffs.

Once at the Campbell Police station, Police say Clark spit into the face of one officer as they were shackling her to a chair.

When she continued trying to spit at officers, they placed a mask over her head to protect themselves.

Clark and the officer went to St. Elizabeth hospital for precautionary blood drawings to make sure the officer was not exposed to any blood borne pathogens.

Clark's nine-year-old son was picked up by a relative.

According to the police report, a Mahoning County Sheriff's Deputy was bitten by Clark as she was being booked into jail.

A not guilty plea was entered for Clark on Wednesday in Campbell Municipal Court.

She faces charges of operating a vehicle under the influence, endangering children, failing to drive in marked lanes, two counts of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing officials business, vandalism and having an open container in a motor vehicle.

Clark is due back in court next Tuesday.
