Coyote population growing in neighborhoods
Experts say there's a growing occurrence of coyotes in our neighborhoods.
CANFIELD, Ohio - Experts say there is a growing occurrence of coyotes in our neighborhoods.
At a community learning opportunity, a social professor of Wildlife Ecology at Ohio State University said, in this day an age, everyone is living near coyotes, not just people who live in rural areas.
"You want to remove any attractants. If you have small dogs, you may want to keep an eye on them. If you know the coyotes are coming into your yard, you might want to keep closer tabs on your dogs. If you don't know, you have a little bit more flexibility,” said Stan Gehrt.
Gehrt also said that this time of year is especially dangerous since litters of coyotes are just now being born.
He suggested keeping your dogs on a leash while in a park.
