The Clorox Company is recalling 5.4 million bottles of Liquid Plumr clog remover products due to its inability to meet requirements for child-restraint closure.

The Clorox Company says the products are easy for children to remove the tops and open, putting children at risk for chemical burns and irritations to skin and eyes.

The products recalled include Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Clog Fighter, Liquid Plumr Industrial Urgent Clear, and Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Urgent Clear clog removers.

The company is required to issue a recall because the products contain sodium hydroxide, a chemical that must be sealed with child-restraint packaging as prescribed by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.

The company says recalled bottles can be identified by checking the UPC code printed in the lower back corner of each bottle.

The codes related to recalls are as follows:

Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Foaming Clog Fighter, formerly sold as Slow Flow Fighter
UPC Code 44600-00214
Orange bottle with a red cap

Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Urgent Clear
UPC Code 44600-30548
Blue bottle with a red cap

Liquid Plumr Industrial Strength Urgent Clear
UPC Code 44600-31484
Black bottle with a red cap

The Clorox Company says it has received eight reports of the caps not working correctly and another 221 reports of leaking bottles.

No injures have been reported, according to the company.

Clorox says customers with effected products should contact the Clorox Company's Liquid Plumr call center at 855-490-0705 for disposal and refund instructions.
