3 challenge incumbent in Pennsylvania auditor general's race
Three candidates are vying to unseat Pennsylvania's Democratic auditor general, Eugene DePasquale (Dee-puh-SKWAHL-ee), in the Nov. 8 election.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Three candidates are vying to unseat Pennsylvania's Democratic auditor general, Eugene DePasquale, in the Nov. 8 election.
The auditor general is the commonwealth's top fiscal watchdog and oversees a 400-employee office with an over $50 million budget. The agency conducts audits of state spending and taxpayer-funded programs.
Republican John Brown, Green Party candidate John J. Sweeney and Libertarian candidate Roy Minet are looking to replace the incumbent.
The last three elected auditors general used the position as a political springboard and later ran for a higher office.
The candidates have made pledges to audit specific agencies and have shared general plans to expose state inefficiencies.
