Protesters rally against Vice President during visit to Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. - Vice President Mike Pence's arrival had hundreds saying welcome, but also hundreds of others protesting in the streets of Grove City Saturday afternoon.
Pence's invitation to Grove City College came with opposition as many students, alumni and faculty were concerned that this invitation could appear as a Trump endorsement.
"I'm a public educator, so I have tons of concerns about how the administration will affect public education and additionally, when it comes to Mike Pence, one of my concerns is how he chooses to treat the LGBT community," said one protester from Butler.
There was no doubt that out of the many issues, including the latest development with the Russia investigation and Comey firing, was on the forefront of most of the protester's minds.
"It reminds me very much of the Watergate days with the Nixon administration, only it took Richard Nixon five years. It took Trump one hundred and something days," said another protester from Slippery Rock.
"I'm really horrified about what's going on right now and I really hope that well have a complete investigation, and I have confidence that now we'll finally get to the bottom of some of these allegations," said a Grove City Alumni.
Among the large crowd of protesters were others countering the anti-Pence protest, some in opposition of the message, and others just wanting the community to focus on what's really important.
"They're kind of turning something that should really be about the college students into a political thing," said 15-year-old Shawn Hroncich of Grove City. "If Pence is coming, whether or not you agree with his policies, he's the vice president."
Just one block away from the protests, many graduates celebrated a monumental moment in their lives, as hundreds of others took the streets to exercise their First Amendment rights.
