The coroner for Mercer county is hoping yard signs will help raise awareness and reduce the number of senseless deaths caused by poor choices.

John Libonati is providing the signs that warn against drug use, driving drunk, and texting while driving.  He hopes people will take notice of the signs and think twice about making a bad decision.\

"If somebody leaves their house to travel somewhere else in the county to but drugs, that they have to pass fifteen of those signs on their way. I hope that where ever they go to buy drugs that there's a sign across the street to make them rethink that," Libonati said.

The signs also have Libonati's name and his position in large letters. He says he feels that having the message come from the coroner will stress the risk of peoples bad choices.  Libonati says it has nothing to do with politics. His current term as coroner runs until 2019.

The signs are available from McGonigles Ambulance Service in Hermitage, Superior Ambulance in Grove City, and Life Force Ambulance in Greenville.
