Company interested in buying Warren city park
An unnamed company is looking to build in Warren on property that is now a city-owned park.

WARREN, Ohio - An unnamed company is looking to build in Warren on property that is now a city-owned park.
But some people who use that park feel the company should look elsewhere.
Deemer Park has been home to the Warren Little Raiders football league for decades.
But now the city is looking to sell the park to a company who wants to build there and create 30 new jobs for the area.
City leaders say it's too early to give the name of the company or say what they make.
Right now, council is in the stages of allowing the port authority to talk with the company to try and make a deal to come here.
Seventh Ward Councilman Eugene Mach said, "They are interested in the Deemer Park area because it is in close proximity to other vacant properties in case they want to expand later on. They got the old Westlawn property, they've got the old Reserve property."
So where does that leave the Little Raiders? So far Warren City Schools say they can relocate to the back of Jefferson Elementary.
But the parents at Deemer say they don't want to leave. They say it has facilities that other fields don't have like restrooms near the field with concession stands inside. It also has a track that goes all around the field.
"There's a lot of history here," said Betsy Everman. "It's also where all of our amenities are. It's where we house our equipment. It's where we have our concession stand where we get a lot of our funds. This field is home to us."
If the company eventually decides to come to Warren, council believes they can work something out to make it a better home for the Little Raiders.
"Right now at Deemer Park, the parents maintain that field. They mow it. They paint the lines. They wouldn't necessarily have to do that at the new location. It's also a more level field so it's safer for the kids," added Mach.
Nothing's official yet. Right now talks between the port authority and the company are in the preliminary stages so at least for this season, the Little Raiders will be staying at Deemer.
