MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - A Youngstown woman was indicted Thursday after she allegedly stole pills from patients at an Austintown medical facility.

LaJuana Jordan, 47, was charged in the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court with four counts of grand theft and four counts of illegal processing of drug documents.

The charges come after an incident in April at Austintown Health Care Center.

Police responded to the medical facility after the director of nursing advised there may be two missing narcotic pills.

The director told police that Jordan was to distribute pills on April 23.

He says that two patients were supposed to take a narcotic for pain as needed every six hours. The patients were supposed to receive Oxycodone and Hydrocodone.

On the next day, another nurse said three narcotic pills were signed out for each patient, according to the report.

Staff asked the patients how many pills they were given and they both said one each.

When questioned, Jordan said that each patient was allegedly given their two pills but they might not have noticed because the second dose was given in a cup with all their other medications, the report said.

Jordan then allegedly admitted to a medication error because the pills were only to be given out every six hours.

According to the report, staff told police that even with the medication error, Jordan still said she gave the patients two pills each but allegedly signed three pills out.
