YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Don Hanni III, a Valley political figure and eldest son of the late Don Hanni Jr., died Tuesday morning according to a Facebook post from his sister Heidi Hanni.

The post did not offer more information on the circumstances of her brother's passing.

A lifelong Youngstown resident, Hanni III ran in several political races, including an unsuccessful bid to get the Democratic Party's nomination for 60th House District Seat in 2010.

Following in his father's footsteps as a staunch Democrat, the Ursuline High School Graduate was a member of the Youngstown City School Board for more than a decade.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Hanni III was 71.
