WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man is in jail after police found drugs and guns inside of his car during a traffic stop.
According to reports, Warren police were dispatched to Sunoco on West Market St. around 3 a.m. on November 11. Upon arriving at Sunoco the officers noticed a black GMC Yukon playing loud music that "could be heard from well over 50 feet away." Officers drove around the building and saw the Yukon leave as they pulled back around.
Officers say that they caught up to the car and stopped the vehicle on Main St. During the traffic stop officers identified the driver as 37-year-old Donald Jones, Jr.
According to reports, officers noticed the smell of "burnt marijuana odor" coming from the vehicle and asked Jones who had been smoking in his car. Officers say that Jones said that nobody had smoked in his car and that he can't smoke because he is "on federal paper."
Officers say they asked to search the vehicle and Jones stood outside the vehicle while it was searched. Reports say that during the search officers noticed the car's kick panel was loose. Officers removed the panel and found several plastic bags and a digital drug scale.
Officers also noticed that the center console was loose. After lifting the console, officers found two loaded guns in the compartment, a revolver, and a Springfield XDs 45 pistol.
Police say that they also found 19 grams of heroin, three grams of cocaine, about 50 pills, and marijuana residue in the car. Jones was searched by police who found "a large lump" in his back pocket. Police say that the lump was actually $3,640 in cash.
According to a police report, another $5,410 was found in Jones' shoe when he was searched at the county jail.
Jones was charged with two counts of carrying concealed weapons and is being held in the Trumbull County Jail.
