Things Remembered warn HQ workers of possible layoffs
A nationwide retailer of engraved gifts and keepsakes with stores and a distribution center in the Valley is reporting that it may lay off the 125 workers at its Cleveland area headquarters.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A nationwide retailer of engraved gifts and keepsakes with stores and a distribution center in the Valley is reporting that it may lay off the 125 workers at its Cleveland area headquarters.
Things Remembered, which Reuters reported last week is preparing to file bankruptcy, has filed a notice dated January 24 under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act stating that employees at its Highland Heights, Ohio office could be laid off starting March 4 if efforts to restructure the business are not successful.
The WARN notice makes no mention of the Things Remembered Distribution Center in North Jackson, or its 400 stores including those in the Southern Park Mall and Eastwood Mall.
21 News has reached out to company officials in an effort to learn more about those facilities in the Valley.
Saying that issuance of the WARN notice is “conditional”, the company says it has been attempting to sell or restructure the business.
The WARN Act requires companies of a certain size to give workers a 60-day notice before mass layoffs occur.
According to the WARN notice, the company said giving workers an earlier notification wasn’t feasible because it would have undermined sale and restructuring efforts that were underway at the time.
