NILES, Ohio - The man accused in a deadly stabbing in Niles last October has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Twenty-year-old Edward Anderson, of Campbell, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter, as well as two charges of felonious assault.

Anderson was indicted last year on one charge of murder, and two charges of felonious assault.

According to police, 41-year-old Michael Tsarnas of Campbell was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the incident.

Police say a second victim, 19-year-old Melissa Stroud, sustained multiple stab wounds and was also taken to the hospital.

Authorities say Stroud did have a civil protection order against the suspect, Anderson Jr., that was put in place on September 20.

However, they say she failed to show up to a hearing, and it lapsed before Anderson allegedly stabbed her multiple times.

The protection order was supposed to remain in place until October 20.

According to police, Stroud and Tsarnas were at a Warren Avenue home to retrieve Stroud's belongings.

Police say Anderson returned to the home while Stroud and Tsarnas were there and a fight began.

According to police, when investigators arrived on the scene, they found Anderson behind the home "covered in blood."

The Niles Police Chief, Jay Holland, said they found Stroud with multiple stab wounds and Tsarnas in the house with even more stab wounds.

Sources say Stroud was allegedly in a previous relationship with Anderson.
