SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University President William Behre penned an open letter to Dr. Phil following comments the television host made to People.com.

Dr. Phil McGraw spoke of the college admission scandal and said in the interview with People.com, "They're not buying their kids an education. They want to say my kid's going to Harvard; my kid's going to USC or Yale."

The popular TV show host continued "They don't want to be the one parent that says, 'Well, yeah, my kid's going to, you know, Slippery Rock.'"

The Slippery Rock president posted the letter to Dr. Phil on the University's Facebook page.

Behre said in the statement that Dr. Phil mentioned Slippery Rock University as the antithesis of a trophy.

He continued saying students at Slippery Rock can secure an education for less than the price of Dr. Phil's '57 Chevy Bel Air Convertible.

Behre praised Slippery Rock University graduates saying that they have gone on to run Fortune 500 companies and the variety of occupations they hold.

The university president finished the letter by thanking Dr. Phil for shining a spotlight on the value Slippery Rock provides and personally invited him to visit the university.
