AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown U.S. Marshals arrested a man after he was accused of assaulting a co-worker with a 36" inch long wooden plank at Dinesol Plastics in May.
Just after 2:30 pm on May 18, Austintown police were called out to Dinesol Plastics due to a fight between two employees.
According to the report, 31-year-old Brandon Smith started arguing with a co-worker, and it turned into a physical altercation.
Witnesses say that they attempted to break up the fight, but Smith reached into a garbage can, retrieved a piece of a broken wooden pallet, and began to strike the victim causing him to fall to the ground.
After the victim fell to the floor, injured employees called 911, and that is when Smith ran out of the building.
When police arrived, they saw the victim was laying on the ground and holding a shirt under the back of his head. Police say they saw a two to three-inch-long cut on the back of the victims head which was bleeding and a bit of swelling.
Employees at the company say that they do not know why Smith and the victim started fighting in the first place.
The Youngstown U.S. Marshals arrested Smith and booked into the Mahoning County jail on a felonious assault charge.
