CHAMPION TWP., Ohio - An investigation is underway into the death of a three-year-old boy who fell under a mower while his father was cutting the grass at his Champion Township home.

A rescue squad was called to the home on Anderson Anthony Road just before 7 p.m. Monday after a man called 911 to report that his three-year-old son was under a sixty-inch mower.

The caller, who told the dispatcher that he is Amish, said that he was riding with his son on the mower when the boy fell off.

The father said he was unable to stop the mower.

A medical helicopter was put on standby but was not dispatched when it was determined that the child had died.

Champion Police contacted the coroner and the Ohio State Highway Patrol to help in the investigation.
