WARREN, Ohio - A Warren woman, who was convicted of ramming her car into another car injuring herself and three other people, has been sentenced to spend the next two years in jail.
Twenty-five-year-old Alexis Estes was sentenced in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Monday after pleading guilty earlier to five charges including aggravated vehicular assault, attempted felonious assault, and driving under the influence.
The charges stem from a March 2018 two-vehicle traffic crash on Douglas Street Northwest in Warren.
Police say Estes had been arguing with one of the passengers in the other car at a North Park Avenue supermarket before the crash.
One of the people from the other car claimed Estes shouted racial slurs at them, then followed their vehicle as it drove away from the market.
Estes told officers that she had been driving away when the victims sped in front of her and slammed on their brakes, causing her car to rear-end the other vehicle.
Estes, along with the passenger in her vehicle and two passengers from the other car were taken to area hospitals for medical treatment. Two of the women were listed as suffering "major injury."
A police report says Estes agreed to take a blood-alcohol test after admitting that she drank "three shots."
