YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Presidential Adviser Ivanka Trump and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson are postponing their planned trip to Youngstown on Monday in light of the recent mass shooting in Dayton.

White House Deputy Communications Director Jessica Ditto released the following statement:

“In light of the tragic shooting, Secretary Carson and Adviser Ivanka Trump are postponing their planned visit to Youngstown, as they join Ohioans and people across the country in mourning those impacted by the horrific events that unfolded in Dayton, Ohio early this morning. Police and first responders must be able to allocate all available resources to assist the investigation and support the victims and families."

Carson and Ivanka expressed their condolences and support to Ohio Senator Rob Portman, and let him know that the event will be rescheduled at a future date.

Both Senator Portman and Scott Turner, the White House Zone Revitalization Council executive director, were supposed to join them during the Monday visit.

They were making the trip to assess the area's economic development efforts, making stops at City Machine Technologies and the Youngstown Business Incubator.
