Mercer County, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the Mercer County regional winners of the "Paint the Plow" contest.

"Paint the Plow is a joint effort between high schools and PennDOT where students paint a plow blade with a theme given to them.

The 2019 theme was "Don't Rush in Ice and Slush" to bring attention to the need for extra driving time during wintry weather.

Mercer County winners included Commodore Perry High School, who won the "Fan Favorite" award that was decided by online voting. Their plow depicts a comic strip of a vehicle losing control while going too fast.

The fan-favorite voting had a total of 3,545 votes collected.

The "People's Choice" award was decided through charitable donations and went to Mercer Area High School. Their design featured a person and a mustang, the school's mascot, sharing a frozen drink.

The "Judges' Pick" award went to Greenville High School with their design of their school mascot, a Trojan, and a car theme. PennDOT representatives determined the selection.
