CANFIELD, Ohio - Members of the Canfeild Swim and Tennis Club will be able to take a dip and cool off beginning Monday, June 8, 2020.

Although Governor Mike DeWine gave the green light for public and club pools to open March 26, Canfield Swim Club officials say Monday’s 11 am opening is coming earlier than they anticipated.

Members who are up to date on dues will find some changes.

Although facial coverings are not required on the club grounds, members are being asked to wear masks upon check-in and any other time interacting with staff members. All staff will have their temperatures taken upon arrival.

To help encourage social distancing, the area has been divided into quadrants. Upon arrival and entrance to the pool, members will be given reservations and quadrant assignments on a first-come, first-serve basis. The number of people will be limited to 10 people per quadrant.

Each quadrant will have a variety of approximately four chairs which will be sanitized by staff after each family's departure. Members are asked to flip over the chairs as they leave so staff is aware that they need to be sanitized.

Chairs will not be permitted to be moved from their quadrants to ensure that they are sanitized properly.

Members are welcome to bring their own chairs and tables. Tents or sunshades are limited to the grass areas.

Hand sanitizer dispensers will be available in the entryway and throughout the club.

Bathrooms will be checked by staff hourly and sanitized every two hours, according to club officials.  Members are asked to respect social distancing practices and not loiter in bathrooms. It is recommended that bathrooms have no more than three people inside at a time.

The concession stand is still closed, but members may bring their own food and beverages.

As per State recommendation, club officials ask that members take with them any trash that is generated. To protect staff, no  trash cans are available. Bags will be available to members in the front office if necessary.

Members are asked to abide by the "Playground Closed" sign if posted.

The basketball court, sand volleyball court, and bocce court are open. However, members need to bring their own balls.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas.

Proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water.

Although pool hours are Monday through Friday from 11 am until 9 pm, only the shallow end is open from 11 am until noon for those taking part in Swim Conditioning. Adults may swim laps from 7 to 7:30 am Monday through Friday.

The pool is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Sunday: 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
