Group marches through Salem for those impacted, killed due to racism

SALEM, Ohio - A group of people with signs reading "racism is a pandemic, too" and "white silence kills" peacefully marched through the streets of Salem.
National Miss Heart of Ohio Madison Haskell hosted the "Day Of Change" demonstration Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Madison said it was a four-mile walk of silence and day of prayer for those who have been killed and impacted due to racism.
"I think it's important when we're treating other individuals human beings like garbage that we speak up because no one should be, or deserve to be, treated that way." Haskell said.
Another demonstrator expressed that she came out to show her support for her friends who have children that may deal with racism.
"A lot of people don't see this in our small town, but all my friends that have kids that have darker skin, they definitely see it, and so I'm out here for them. I'm out here for the kids with darker skin in Salem schools," Michelle Bails from Salem said.
