Yo. School Superintendent: 'Still waiting for state guidelines for fall reopening plans'

Youngstown school Superintendent, Joseph Meranto said in a Wednesday Board of Education meeting, that he is still waiting to get guidelines from the state on how the district should re-open this fall.
There was casual discussion of three different options during the meeting. One would be to make a full return. Another option would be a mixture of stay at home and spending part-time in a classroom. The last option is to remain fully internet instruction at home only.
Meranto told the board a blended come back would be difficult due to the need for more busing to satisfy social distancing. He says the district has a hard enough time getting drivers as it is, let alone more needed for that kind of requirement. He said drivers might even have to take temperatures of students as they board the buses.
The superintendent says they will eventually have a plan in place before then start of the school year but they want to wait to see what guidelines the Governor's office gives out before the administration makes the final decision.
Meranto says they have already ordered 600 ipads and 1300 Chromebooks for students for fall at-home instruction.
