Hermitage Police asking for person in cold case to come forward

HERMITAGE, Pa. - Hermitage police are looking to speak to the mother of a baby that was found off Lynnwood Drive back on July 2, 1970.
According to a release from the department, the baby was born less than a week before and received medical attention consistent with a hospital but haven't been able to identify her.
Police announced a new development in the search to identify the baby and the person who left her there.
They believe they will be able to identify the baby and its mother and father due to advances in DNA technology.
Police are trying to speak with the person who laid the baby down off Lynnwood Drive in Hickory Township to answer questions about their reasoning and emotions to make the decision.
They say while the DNA will identify the person, it will not be able to answer questions about the reasoning for the decision or their feelings that led to it.
"I want to give you this opportunity to come talk to me, to give you the chance to explain to your family and friends before the DNA results come back," said Deputy Chief Joel Ristvey.
Ristvey can be reached at 724-983-6782 ext. 3.
