Movie screens come to life again in Boardman, Niles

Two Valley movie theatres reopen to live audiences Friday following a shutdown that has been in place since the Coronavirus outbreak began.
The Regal Boulevard Centre at the Eastwood Mall Complex in Niles and the Tinseltown Cinemark at the Southern Park Mall in Boardman resume showing movies again, each with health precautions in place.
In addition to masks mandated for staff and customers, except when eating or drinking, both theaters have other restrictions designed to promote social distancing.
Health precautions at Regal Boulevard
As Trumbull County returns to a “Red” Coronavirus Alert level, Regal says its employees have been instructed to monitor auditoriums throughout each performance as standard practice. Where socially unacceptable behavior is observed, including the non-wearing of a mask, this will be addressed with the patron, according to the Regal website.
Where required by state or county mandate, auditorium capacities will be reduced to 50%.
The fresh air intake is being increased by 50%-100% above normal levels to help circulate more fresh air throughout auditoriums.
The reservation system is maintaining two empty seats between groups (1 seat at recliner locations) to maintain proper social distancing throughout the movie.
At theatres, where performances are non-reserved, customers will be requested to leave two seats between groups.
Group sizes will only be limited where required by a state or county mandate.

Auditorium capacities are being reduced to maintain compliance with all local and state guidelines. The ticketing system automatically blocks seats next to groups of ticketholders.
Showtimes are being staggered to allow more time for guests to exit and prevent overcrowding in restrooms, halls, and lobbies. This also allows employees more time to clean and sanitize between movies.
Customers are encouraged to buy tickets online. However, tickets may also be purchased at the box office as well.

WHAT’S SHOWING?
The pandemic not only shut down theatres. It also shut down some movie production in Hollywood and prompted some studios to hold back movie releases until they could guarantee larger audiences.
As a result, theatres are finding themselves with more screens than movies. One solution is to show so-called “Classic” films in addition to whatever new releases they can get their hands on.
