When the last time you watched a movie inside a theater? Well, the owners of a newly-renovated theater complex in Austintown hope cinephiles flock to their opening this weekend.

What used to be Regal in Austintown is now Golden Star, and it looks completely different. The new owners completely gutted the theater complex, and everything inside is new.

When they open Friday, they want customers to know they've taken safety precautions to guard against COVID. Sanitizers are everywhere, and plexiglass is set up in the lobby. Or you can bypass the lobby altogether.

"You can buy your ticket on the website or app. Because it's assigned seating, you can have your seat, you know it's your seat, and if you wish, you can buy your ticket, bypass the box office and come right in," said Joe Rethage of Golden Star.

And those seats are something.

"All of our theatres will have the luxury leather recliners. They all open up!" added Rethage.

Half of the seating in the ten theater rooms will be closed off for social distancing.
Outside of COVID safety precautions, Golden Star has some amenities that most movie theaters don't feature.

'We have our kitchen where we will serve some modified hot foods. We will eventually have our bar open. We were approved for our liquor license," said Rethage.

Movie companies are finally releasing new movies this week to get people to go to theaters. Golden Star will show them along with some classics.
