Tuesday was the first day of online learning for Youngstown City School students.

During a School Board meeting, Superintendent Joseph Mertano said, as expected, there were some glitches and connectivity issues. But he said the issues are being worked through.

He also said the district is seeing more students enroll "daily."

"I think the reason that we are enrolling so many students is that some parents are hesitant to send their children to school face-to-face for fear of COVID, so they are taking advantage of our remote learning situation," said Mertano.

Mertano also noted that although the entire district is learning remotely, people may still see some buses on the roads. They're needed to transport parochial school students.
