FOWLER TWP., Ohio - Authorities are investigating a shooting in a rural Fowler Township neighborhood early Wednesday.

A caller to 9-1-1 reported that a neighbor had been shot in the side and the leg on the 3800 block of Youngstown-Kingsville Road shortly after 8:30 a.m.

"We are kind of a community where you can leave you doors open overnight and not have to worry about anything like this, it's very unsettling," says Chrissy Kakiou, who called 9-1-1 after the victim, William Blake, ended up in her yard after he had been shot.

A rescue squad was dispatched to the address while authorities were on the lookout for the suspect in a car that was last seen driving north on Route 193.

Forty-six-year-old William Gambino Jr. was shortly taken into custody after police spotted his car at Route 46 and Greenville Road in Cortland.

The victim's wallet was allegedly found in Gambino's car.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Officials said he was shot multiple times and is undergoing surgery.

Officials would not get into a motive for the shooting, but Gambino was booked on charges including aggravated robbery, having weapons under disability and attempt to commit an offense.
