Tentative agreement between NLMK and company

Shenango Valley Businesses have proudly shown their support for NLMK Employees on strike the last few months. They say they felt it was necessary, to help out.
"Restaurant businesses have taken a hit through COVID and you know, try to, they scratch our back, we scratch theirs, you know," said Kendra Sheasely, Laddies Sky Club Owner. "They've been really good to us, coming in and eating and you know, so, we just felt it was the right thing to do," she said.
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. Union workers say they are more than appreciative of the outpouring of support from the community.
"I could never have anticipated having as much support as we have with money, food, food for people to take home," said James Wells, United Steelworkers Local President. "They've brought food down for the lines to feed the people while they were on the lines, it's been very overwhelming," he said.
Now a tentative agreement has been reached between union workers and NLMK, after workers have walked the picket line since August. They'll learn the details of that agreement next week and put it to a vote Monday, March 1st.
Wells would not tell 21 News if union leadership is recommending the contract and wouldn't divulge any details of the proposal. The more than 400 workers have been striking over issues that include wages and a high deductible healthcare plan.
