ABILENE, Kan. (AP) -  The Butler Institute of American Art is proposing an addition to its existing building on Wick Avenue in Youngstown that would allow people to admire some of the art from outside.

The City of Youngstown Design Review Committee will consider plans for a new Grand Gallery East building that would be constructed in front of the Beecher Center which is attached to the historic art venue.

The main feature of the multi-story glass, aluminum, and marble 1,380 sq. ft addition is glass covering 95% of the front of the building allowing people outside to view artwork on display inside.

Plans call for the construction of curved steps in front which would provide access to the addition as well as the existing museum.
