One person has been rescued after a power line fell on a Jeep, closing a portion of Mahoning Avenue in Champion.

Witnesses told dispatchers that the Jeep sheared a utility pole, blocking Mahoning Avenue between Champion Street and Route 305 just before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

A fallen live wire left one person trapped in the Jeep.  First responders had to wait until a FirstEnergy crew could cut the power before rescuing the victim.

A 21 News crew on the scene said they saw the driver of the vehicle walk away from the accident.

As of 11 a.m. Ohio Edison reported that power was out to fewer than five customers in the area.
