Grove City mom charged with child endangering for second time

A Grove City woman has been charged with child endangering for the second time this year after police say her toddlers were found playing in a roadway.
Officers were called out Sunday afternoon to North Broad Street and Gilmore Avenue to investigate a report that young children were in the road.
After finding the children, ages one and two, playing ball in the road, passing drivers brought them to safety and waited for police to arrive.
Officers found the children’s mother, 28-year-old Kelsey Sweeney, sleeping in her North Broad Street apartment.
Sweeney was charged with two counts of child endangering, as was 25-year-old Trenton Stearns who police say failed to tell Sweeny he was leaving the home and failing to make sure the children couldn’t get out of the house.
The latest charges against the mother are in addition to another child endangering charge pending in district court from a February 12 incident.
Mercer County Children and Youth Services is working with the family, according to the police.
