PA State Police report 8 crash deaths, 183 injuries over Memorial Day weekend

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police have released crash data for Memorial Day weekend.
According to the release, State Police investigated 844 crashes between May 28th and 31st.
183 people were injured in the crashes and eight were killed.
Alcohol was a factor in 63 crashes but was not a factor in any fatal accidents.
The release says 596 arrests were made for driving under the influence and 9,624 speeding tickets were issued. State Police also cited 1,025 people for not wearing a seatbelt and 144 people were cited for not having children in safety seats.
Compared to 2019, State Police arrested 14 more people for DUI but gave out fewer child seat, seatbelt, and speeding citations.
There were 89 more crashes in 2021 than in 2019.
