KINSMAN, Ohio - Two years ago, a disastrous flood ripped through Kinsman bridge leaving families in a panic as they were isolated from their homes.

Driveways and basements were left completely flooded and clean-up was only half the battle.

Now, the bridge is repaired and Township officials invited neighbors in the area and hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate.

"I'm happy, it was a pleasure working with the Kinsman Township Trustees and the administration of Kinsman Township," said Randy Smith, Trumbull County Engineer. "And this truly concludes cleaning up everything as a result of the storm event," he said.

Smith says this time the bridge will hold for the next 60 to 70 years.

"The bridge that was damaged during the storm of July 20 2019 had some you know, challenges with it," said Smith. "Today there's new armoring of the embankment and things of that nature. the way it was constructed, we have no concerns whatsoever," he said.

Thirteen different sites were washed away when the flood happened but the Kinsman bridge was one of the more substanstial ones with major damages sustained.

Neighbors say they are pleased to have the bridge back, as they had been taking long detours to get home every day.

The damage, it was just unbelievable actually, I never saw anything like it," said Karen Wilson, a neighbor.

"We're excited that it's done and I think it's a wonderful celebration," said Jacque Piper, another neighbor.

This was the final bridge to be repaired after the flood.
