POLAND, Ohio - Three area business leaders joined together to help raise a record $60,000 for United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley at the Locker 1 & 2 Golf Outing on Monday, June 21, at the Poland Lake Club.

Director of Operations for the Muransky Companies, Leo Henry, and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Winkle Electric Company, Bob Conger, teamed up with Preston Auto Group for the event.

Henry and Conger have been hosting the event since 2014, in which they raised $16,000 for United Way. Since then, the duo has been working to spread awareness about the event and United Way.

Bob Hannon, President of United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, expressed his gratitude towards Henry and Conger for their contributions.

"Leo and Bob started this outing seven years ago. We are so thankful that they wanted to help our United Way. We could not have raised this much money without their dedication," Hannon said.

Thanks to the collaboration with Preston Auto Group, this year's outing was more significant than ever before. Thirty-seven teams participated and raised more than three times the amount raised at the inaugural event and increased donations by 30% compared to the last outing. Professional golfer Rocco Mediate also made an appearance.

"We have great partners and sponsors who truly step up to make this a one-of-a-kind experience for our golfers," Henry said. "With Preston Auto joining us for the first time, we added Rocco Mediate to all the fun that takes place on the court. We are so honored to be able to raise this much for United Way," he said.

All proceeds from the event will go towards United Way's "Success After 6" programming, helping them reinvent their wrap-around services, including after-school programming, food pantries, family engagement events, enrichment experiences, and mentorship programs.
