The Youngstown Police have arrested and charged a man who was a person of interest in a murder that occurred last week.

Larry Tarver (age 49) was named a person of interest in the death of his live-in brother Telly Smith (age 45). Tarver was booked into the Mahoning County Jail and charged with murder on Wednesday. He will be arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court by the end of this week.

Tarver became a person of interest soon after Smith's body was found last Friday, according to a statement from Youngstown Police.

Smith was found dead on the 200 block of Hughes Street on Youngstown's South Side around 1 p.m. last Thursday. Authorities say he was the victim of multiple gunshot wounds.

Youngstown Police and the Mahoning County Coroner's Office ruled his death a homicide soon after their investigation began.
