Grief counseling offered after Columbiana student killed in hit-and-run accident

FAIRFIELD TWP, Ohio - The Columbiana Exempted Village School District is offering grief counseling after a thirteen-year-old middle school student was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
Superintendent Don Mook released a statement on Sunday expressing condolences for the loss of the student whose name has not yet been released by authorities.
The Ohio State Patrol tells 21 News that the teen, who was riding a bicycle, was struck by a pickup truck at around 9 p.m. Saturday along State Route 164.
The boy was taken to Salem Hospital where he later died.
The driver, Donald E. White of Salineville was not injured, and fled the scene after the crash, according to troopers.
White was later arrested for aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash, both 3rd degree felonies.
White has been booked into Columbiana County jail as the investigation continues.
OSP believes that illegal drugs could be a factor in the incident.
