Craig Beach Police Chief, Ryan Harp tells 21 News that the death has been deemed suspicious confirming that Shaffer died from a gunshot wound in the head region. Chief Harp says police are still waiting on a statement from the Mahoning County Coroner's Office regarding the circumstances of the death.

Chief Harp has also confirmed that BCI and the Mahoning County Homicide Task Force are currently assisting with the investigation.

A heavy police presence responded to a home on Jersey Street in Lake Milton and found a body inside just before 8 p.m. Friday night.

Craig Beach Police Department confirmed that Michelle Shaffer, a Lake Milton resident in her 60's was found dead at the home.

Circumstances of the death are unclear and many questions are unanswered at this time. Crime scene tape was placed around the home and crews called the Mahoning County Coroner to check out the area.

An autopsy was completed on Saturday at the Cuyahoga County Coroner medical examination office.

Police have not said whether or not they have a suspect or any reason to believe there may be one. Dispatch have said they are aware of an active investigation taking place.

Over five police vehicles, a coroner vehicle and several unmarked first responder vehicles were on-site at the home.
