Nostalgic toy finds in new Columbiana store
COLUMBIANA, Ohio - There's something for everyone, kids and adults, at the newest business in Columbiana.
Totally Nostalgic Toycade opened it's doors earlier this month, just in time for the holiday season. Offering a variety of old school, vintage toys with young generation items mixed into the collection.
"Maybe you come in looking for something for your kid but you find something for yourself," said Randi Haines, co-owner of Totally Nostalgic Toycade. "It's just exciting to re-live your childhood but also find things you may not see elsewhere."
The name of the store is fitting because of how many childhood memories arise when you walk through the toy store. They sell Teenage Ninja Turtles, X-men, Star Wars, Barbie and Cabbage Patch Dolls- just to name a few.
"Finding that one special connection to a time when maybe there wasn't all that negativity in peoples lives could be something really important and really special," added Ron Haines, co-owner of Totally Nostalgic Toycade.
Owners Ron and Randi Haines both left their day jobs to pursue this dream. They say don't hesitate to create a business out of a passion.
"It's terrifying but it's definitely worth doing," Ron said. "It's rewarding," Randi added. "I wouldn't go back to doing what I did before," Ron said.
"We want to work for ourselves, make ourselves better and also get to know the community," Randi said. The store is participating in Toys for Tots to become involved in the community.
"I wanted to do something that focused more on helping people instead of helping another company make money," Ron added.
The Gaines hope to build a full scale arcade within the store in the years to come as they continue to grow their business.
