Niles Police officers were dispatched Sunday, February 13 around 2:30p.m. to the Eastwood Mall after a large fight broke out in front of the Aveda Institute.

Multiple juveniles aged twelve to fourteen were involved in the altercation, which broke out throughout the food court entrance and outside the mall.

Reports state that a security officer was hit in the face by a female during the altercation.

One juvenile was struck in the head, but refused EMS services.

Niles Police Captain, John Marshall tells 21 News that six juveniles have been identified and charged and two juveniles are currently in custody.

Cafaro Co. Spokesman, Joe Bell told 21 News that the juveniles involved will be banned from the mall and security will be reminded to look out for future incidents like this.

Bell tells us there are no plans to increase security for the mall, as incidents like this are rare for the establishment and the mall's current security staff responded to the event quickly.

Bell described the event as "appalling" but states that thankfully events like this are rare.

"We were appalled to see what happened. It was disruptive, it was illegal and fortunately very rare. We are happy to see that criminal charges are pending and we want to serve notice that would be the same for anyone else exhibiting this type of behavior."

Eastwood Mall security said there were no major injuries and that the teens were ordered not to return to the property or they would be arrested.
