Local lawmaker reacts to leaked SCOTUS opinion that could overturn Roe v. Wade

Valley Congressman Tim Ryan has released a statement in response to reports that the Supreme Court has voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Those reports come from a draft opinion written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito that was obtained by Politico. The opinion was circulated around the Court, and suggests that a majority of the Justices support overruling the 1973 landmark decision.
Ryan's statement reads:
“Overturning Roe v. Wade would be absolutely wrong, not to mention catastrophic for Ohio, where Republicans have passed one extreme and dangerous proposal after another to ban abortion—without exceptions even for rape, incest, or medical emergencies—before most people even know they're pregnant. We cannot sit back and allow the Supreme Court to gut Ohioans’ most fundamental rights. Control of the Senate has never been more important: it’s time to end the filibuster, pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, and fight like hell to make sure all Ohio families are free to make these critical decisions without interference from politicians in Columbus or Washington.”
It's unclear if the draft represents the Court's final decision on the matter.
Ryan is a cosponsor of the Women's Health Protection Act, which if passed, would turn Roe into law and protect abortion rights at state and local levels.
