There’s some moderately good news for Valley drivers who refused to pay more than $5 a gallon for gasoline.

Triple-A announced that as of Monday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline had dipped to $4.98.  That’s down from $5.01 one week ago.

The statewide average in Ohio is $4.97. Pennsylvania drivers aren't as fortunate where the average is $5.03.

AAA’s average in Trumbull County is $4.95, Mahoning County’s average price is $4.94, and in Columbiana County, a gallon of regular was selling for an average of $4.97.

The auto club credits a slight drop in gas demand for helping to limit pump price increases. However, as crude oil prices remain volatile, AAA cautions that the price per gallon for gasoline will likely remain elevated.

The gasbuddy.com website, which collects price reports from drivers around the U.S., showed the cheapest price for gas in the Valley was in Warren, where drivers could find a gallon of regular selling for $4.82.
