The cost and demand for fireworks are "skyrocketing."

A lot more people are expected to light up the backyard this Fourth of July, but inflation will make the entertainment more expensive.

400 trucks loaded with fireworks are passing through this week and next week at the Phantom Fireworks Warren Warehouse.

"We'll probably bring in something like 1,500 to 2,000 containers and the last 400 for this season are coming in this week," CEO of Phantom Fireworks Bruce Zoldan said.

Zoldan said after two years of very low inventory, the business is booming, but their shipping costs are up resulting in fireworks costing 25-30% more.

"We can't pass all of it on to the public," he said, "We're eating some of it ourselves."

The supply chain issues and trucker shortage remains a challenge for them.

"There's no question. We have 106 containers in Cleveland right now and it's very difficult to get them off of the rail and onto the trucks to bring them here to this particular warehouse" he said, "as well as getting truck drivers to deliver to our showrooms."

Zoldan said they expect to reach record-breaking shipments of fireworks this year since come July, it'll be legal to set them off in Ohio.

To combat the demand and shipping costs, the Zoldan said the warehouse team is working longer hours to supply in all the showrooms.
