Fireworks will be lighting up the sky this Fourth of July weekend, but some folks in Youngstown may have to wait a little longer if they need assistance from the Youngstown Fire Department.

As of 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Station 15 on McCollum Road is closed for the day. Youngstown Fire Chief, Barry Finley tells 21 News this is due to short staffing and too many firefighters calling off for the day.

Finley assured us firefighters from neighboring stations will still be available if help is needed, but folks living near Station 15 should prepare for a longer response time.

In April, Youngstown Firefighter Union President, John Racco expressed concern about the lack of firefighters in Youngstown, citing the temporary closings of local stations on a rotating basis.
