On Friday, a letter from the Mohawk School District Superintendent's Office said the Lawrence County District Attorney had concluded the football hazing investigation.

According to the superintendent's office, the district attorney's office found that the conduct which occurred was not part of an institutional practice and had not occurred prior. The statement said the conduct was limited to a small number of players, and no adults had preexisting knowledge of any hazing.

The school district said that the district attorney's office found that many of the rumors circulating were unfounded.

The release said, "While the incident is disturbing and unacceptable, it is not a part of the district's culture, and appropriate parties have been and will be held accountable."

The district also announced it would resume its varsity football program. The district is making arrangements to field a team and resume competition.

The emailed statement said, "The district is appreciative of the community's patience, support, and commitment to student health and safety while this process has been proceeding."

Football in the district has been canceled since late August, when the hazing allegations were made public.

Attorney Dallas Hartman is conducting his own investigation into the allegations. 21 News is reaching out to Hartman's office for comment, and this story will be updated as more information is available.
